Vyjayanthi Movies confirms the Deepika Padukone’s exit
The studio said, “This is to officially announce that @deepikapadukone will not be part of the sequel of #Kalki2898AD. After careful consideration, we have decided to part ways. Despite the long journey of making the first film, we were unable to find the right partnership. A film like @Kalki2898AD deserves that commitment and much more. We wish her the best with her future works.”
In the first film, Padukone had a significant role as Kalki’s mother, Sumati, who save the world. The sequel was meant to give her character a more substantial arc. However, the makers admitted they could not form the necessary collaboration for the project, highlighting that a film of this scale needs a level of dedication that was simply not possible.

The film received praise for its high production value and stunning visuals. It also earned recognition for its bold story that combined elements of Indian mythology with futuristic science fiction.
Rumors shows that much of the filming had already wrapped, as many looked forward to the sequel. Producers hinted at resuming production and expanding the plot of the established universe. Since Deepika Padukone has chosen to step away, the crew has not commented on how production will move forward or who will take on her role.
