Recently, Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) has named the Actor Deepika Padukone as India first ‘Mental Health Ambassador’. This appointment is an important step toward creating a more supportive mental health system in the country.
The aim of this role is to strengthen India’s mental health support and encourage open discussions about well-being. Padukone’s selection highlights her commitment to promoting mental health through her foundation and her own experiences.

The actor said, “I am deeply honoured to serve as the first Mental Health Ambassador for the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Under the leadership of PM Modi, India has made significant progress in prioritizing mental health care.
I look forward to working closely with the Ministry to build on this momentum and further strengthen our nation’s mental health framework.”
Her partnership spread mental awareness
Union Minister J P Nadda remarked, “The partnership with Deepika Padukone will help spread awareness about mental health issues in India, normalize discussions to reduce stigma, and emphasize mental health as an important part of public health.”
