Government Takes Action, Blocks 5 OTT Apps Over Obscene Content

The government blocked five OTT platforms for streaming obscene content officials said. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting blocked MoodXVIP, KoyalPlaypro, DigiMovieplex, Feel, and Jugnu following the proper procedure.

Government blocks OTT Apps

Under this procedure, the government directs internet service providers to block access to these OTT platforms according to the Information Technology Rules 2021 and laws against obscenity. These rules aim to maintain public decency, protect national interests, and enforce ethical standards in journalism across digital platforms.

This action follows Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000, which allows the government to block online content for various reasons.
