It was written by Neeraj Pandey and directed by Ritesh Shah. The first look shows the actor as Ajay Dikshit, known as Pandat among his peers, who has a reputation for corrupt and morally compromised.
Users demand to pursue legal action
The title and a line from the movie sparked backlash for allegedly promoting ‘anti-Hindu’ sentiment. Critics point out the irony, as both Neeraj Pandey and Manoj Bajpayee are Brahmins themselves. Some social media users urged the creators to change the title before its release.
Several others threatened to cancel their Netflix subscriptions or pursue legal action against the platform if the movie stays the same. Since the first look of Ghooskhor Pandat revealed, there 16.5k posts discussing the film and promoting Brahmin stereotypes. As the backlash grows, Netflix and the team behind Manoj Bajpayee’s film not yet responded.
