Farhan Akhtar announced a new release date for the much-awaited animated film, Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama. It originally had a scheduled release for 18 October 2024 but will now come to India on 24 January 2025. This is what has been decided in order to ensure the film will be seen and properly watched by people.
Directed by Koichi Sasaki and Ram Mohan, it has been breathed upon the epical tale by Valmiki on the Ramayana. Therein, musical compositions have been undertaken by the renowed, Vanraj Bhatia; hence a timely classic animation treat for people is provided with ageless stories woven in with that.
The team has enlisted acclaimed screenwriter V Vijayendra Prasad, who scripted blockbuster hits such as Baahubali and RRR besides Bajrangi Bhaijaan. His involvement assures that the film appeals to modern audiences yet retains the heart of the original story.
Originally created in 1992, the animated film is a gem for its sheer blend of both Japanese and Indian animation styles. This new rendition brings back to life the old hand-drawn animation of the original but refines the narrative for today’s audience.
Multilingual Release for Broader Reach
To cater to India’s diverse audience, the movie will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and English. It is distributed by Excel Entertainment spearheaded by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani promising a great theatrical experience to both the fans of mythology and animation alike.
Beyond an animated retelling of Lord Rama’s epic journey, the film was also a cultural bridge between India and Japan. Universally embracing themes of valor, righteousness, and devotion, Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama continues to inspire generations.
