A recent development in the Saif Ali Khan attack case has unveiled a detail of the accused illegal stay in India and his activities before the brutal act. According to reports, an Indian national, Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, who is a Bangladeshi also reportedly crossed the Dawki River at Meghalaya to go into India about seven months back. According to Mumbai Police, Fakir procured a SIM and adopted the name “Bijoy Das” using the Aadhaar card of a person from West Bengal.
The 30-year-old accused was nabbed in Thane in the early hours of Sunday following a 3-day-long manhunt. This arrest came after his burglary at Saif Ali Khan’s Bandra residence where an attempt to commit robbery turned violent and resulted in the actor being stabbed six times.
How the Intruder Gained Access
Through investigation of the Saif Ali Khan attack case by Mumbai Police, it has been found that Fakir entered India illegally, citing the availability of work opportunities in the country. He crossed into the country through the Dawki River of Meghalaya before traveling through West Bengal after trying to obtain a fake Aadhaar card but not succeeding. Fakir then traveled to Mumbai, where he looked for a position that did not involve documentation.
Police sources revealed that Fakir worked in pubs and hotels in the Thane and Worli areas, assisted by a labor contractor named Amit Pandey. Initially claiming to be from Kolkata, Fakir’s cell phone records attesting to his regular communication with Bangladesh-based numbers could not be denied. Subsequent questioning validated his nationality when his brother faxed a school certificate from Bangladesh to back himself up.
The Attack and Aftermath
Before targeting Saif Ali Khan’s 12th-floor Bandra apartment, the accused attempted to break into another Bollywood superstar’s bungalow but was thwarted by barking dogs. At Saif’s residence, Fakir hid in the garden for two hours before entering the apartment. During a confrontation, he stabbed the actor six times, leaving Saif with severe injuries, including two deep wounds to his neck and hand.
Saif Ali Khan was urgently transported to Lilavati Hospital and subjected to various surgeries. Doctors have finally cleared him of danger, although he is still under rehabilitation.
The case has triggered a political controversy, whereas Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi has raised the issue of security lapses on the border to the government. That illegal Bangladeshi immigrant who attacked actor Saif Ali Khan entered India through Meghalaya. Still, it throws us into a discussion scenario concerning the failure of the Home Minister of India to provide a fair measure to our borders. “Shame,” Priyanka posted on X.
