Pritish Nandy was a fearless individual: Says best friend Anupam on his death
Actor Anupam Kher, who is an acquaintance of Nandy, tweeted, “Deeply saddened at the passing of Ramchandra Nandy – A visionary and fearless individual. This is very tragic. Photo from my happy moments with my friend.”
“Deeply saddened and shocked by the demise of one of my dearest friends, #PritishNandy,” Kher wrote. “He was an amazing poet, writer, filmmaker, and a brave editor. In my early days in Mumbai, he was my biggest support system and a source of strength. He taught me so much and was larger than life.“
Kher vividly remembered the time Nandy surprised him with his face adorning the cover pages of Filmfare and The Illustrated Weekly of India. Although they did not meet as often these days, Kher strongly stated that earlier, they were inseparable. “He was really यारों का यार (a friend’s friend). I will miss you and our times together,” he added, finishing his moving tribute with, “Rest well, my friend.“

Nandy was a multitalented person who contributed in many fields. He was bold as a journalist in his editorial work, while his poetry spoke to the generations of readers. Later, he entered into filmmaking, producing critically acclaimed works that made a mark on Indian cinema.
