The Commission for Air Quality Management decided to lift the restrictions under GRAP-IV for the Delhi and nearby areas. This change comes after a noticeable improvement in air quality over the past few days. In its official notification, the Commission observed that air quality had improved since last night, as the AQI moved from severe to poor (271).
Although the GRAP-IV restrictions lifted, the capital still follows GRAP-I, GRAP-II, and GRAP-III guidelines. Despite the better air quality, the Commission has chosen not to remove these three categories.
What are the GRAP-IV restrictions in Delhi?
The GRAP-IV restrictions include a complete ban on the entry of non-essential trucks into national capital, with exemptions for trucks carrying essential goods or providing essential services. However, LNG, CNG, electric, and BS-VI diesel trucks allowed into Delhi.
Delhi-registered BS-IV vehicles and lower, diesel-operated Medium Goods Vehicles (MGVs), Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs), and Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) from outside Delhi not allowed in the city.
Banned all Construction and demolition activities
Additionally, all construction and demolition activities are banned in Delhi, including those for public projects such as highways, roads, flyovers, overbridges, power transmission, pipelines, and telecommunications. The Commission may consider further emergency measures, such as closing schools and colleges, stopping non-emergency commercial activities, and enforcing odd-even vehicle restrictions based on registration numbers.
