Mumbai, Maharashtra witnessed sudden and heavy rainfall on Tuesday night. It brings much-required respite from the sweltering heat. But it also cause disruptions as some elements of the town, including roads flooded and hoardings collapsed.
Hoardings Collapsed due to Heavy Rainfall in Maharashtra
One of the most severe incidents occurred in the Sanswadi area near Wagholi, alongside the Pune–Ahilyanagar course, in which a big roadside hoarding collapsed amid the downpour. The structure crashed down in the evening hours, trapping 7 to 8 two-wheelers parked close by.
Although no reviews of any first water-logging, the traffic police claimed the Andheri subway water-logged, due to which traffic was stopped. The officers stated that, except for one incident of a tree falling and one short circuit, no other incident reported in the town.
While the rainfall introduced relief from high temperatures, it also led to waterlogging and site visitors snarls in a number of areas of the town. Authorities have entreated citizens to remain careful, especially in areas with ongoing infrastructure work or volatile structures.
High alert issue
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more rain for the town and surrounding regions over the next few days and issued a number of weather alerts for districts throughout Maharashtra.
According to the latest climate reports, the IMD has prolonged the yellow alert to Palghar, Raigad, and Thane today as well. Meanwhile, the southern district of Sindhudurg has been located under a red alert for May 24, indicating the potential for extremely heavy rainfall.
