Tsunami warning in Hawaii: Women unable to leave Condo in 15 to 20 minutes with her children

A woman shared a TikTok video in which she explains why she is refusing to leave her apartment in Honolulu, Hawaii. Shelby K Blackburn explained in her TikTok video that she need to walk 15 to 20 mins with her children to reach a Tsunami safe place.

Shelby planning to wait out the tsunami in her condo near Waikiki seashore. It is a famous visitor area that currently seeing a numbers of locals and travelers there.

Tsunami hit the coastal areas in Hawaii

A tsunami already hit coastal regions of Russia’s Kuril Islands. It also hit Japan’s big northern island of Hokkaido after 8.8-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Russia early Wednesday. Warnings are also issue for Alaska, Hawaii and other coasts south towards New Zealand, said AP.

Why women is unable to leave apartment

In her video on the “tsunami risk update from Waikiki Beach”, Shelby Blackburn explained that she is in a rental located “a number of blocks away from” the real seashore. She is on the 13th floor of the building.

“I haven’t any vehicle. And even supposing I try and leave in a car right now, the streets backed up with people looking to leave the seaside. And the closest tsunami-safe area is a 15 to 20 minute walk that I make with my daughter,” she said.
