Watch: India's 76th Republic Day parade with focus on atmanirbharta

India’s 76th Republic Day celebrations recently enthralled the nation with an enthusiastic parade. A stunning display of military precision, Indigenous weapons, and colorful cultural scenes was presented at the famous Kartavya Path in New Delhi. The parade emphasized India’s self-sufficiency and military power and included all the branches of the armed forces. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto attended as the chief guest, symbolizing the strong diplomatic ties between India and Indonesia.

Tri-Services Tableau and Military Display

For the first time, a tri-services tableau, themed “Shashakt aur Surakshit Bharat” (Strong and Secure India), headlined the parade. The tableau depicted a coordinated battlefield scenario featuring the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, showcasing indigenous advancements like the Arjun battle tank, Tejas fighter jet, and advanced light helicopters.

The 61 Cavalry, the world’s last active horsed cavalry regiment, led by Lieutenant Ahaan Kumar, opened the military parade, followed by mechanized columns showcasing cutting-edge defense systems, including the T-90 Bhishma tank, BrahMos supersonic missile, Pinaka rocket system, and Akash weapon system.

President Droupadi Murmu, accompanied by President Subianto, took the salute, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and senior officials joined citizens and diplomats in witnessing the event.

Indian Navy’s Focus on Self-Reliance

The Navy’s tableau, led by Lieutenant Commander Sahil Ahluwalia, emphasized “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” (self-reliant India), showcasing indigenous warships like INS Surat, INS Nilgiri, and INS Vaghsheer. The presentation also further highlighted the progress made in maritime security and clean production in India.

DRDO’s Technological Edge

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) raised awareness of its developments through a tableau entitled “Raksha Kavach” (multi-layering protection). [Hopefully] a new arrival was the Pralay missile system, and the drone detect-deter-destroy system, both showing the Indian capability in defense technology.

A Celebration of Unity and Diversity

Also adding to the global feel of the event, the marching band from Indonesia achieved its debut outing, representing the strengthening relationship between the two countries. An all-women CRPF unit (148 members), BSF Camel battalion (15 members), and NCC cadet (30 men/30 women) paraded to showcase the country’s unity in diversity and inclusivity.

Emotional, the veteran’s tableau showed thanks to the men who have served, for what they have achieved in and out of the fight.
