Biscuits Are Worse Than Chocolate And Bournvita Can Be Worse Than Pepsi and Coke!

Biscuits Are Worse Than Chocolate

Biscuits are worse than chocolate! Yes, you heard right! Let me explain to you! Most of us only eat chocolates once or twice a week but biscuits are a daily routine for many. You might have two biscuits in the morning and two in the evening. That’s 28 biscuits a week! But the shocking part is that most biscuits even how healthy they claim to be are made of just three ingredients which are refined flour (maida), sugar and palm oil. Biscuits like Bourbon and Jim Jam even have more sugar than chocolates like Kit Kat and Munch!

Similarly many children have 14 glasses of Bournvita every week but only one or two glasses of Coke or Pepsi. Bournvita is often consumed on an empty stomach causing a quick sugar spike. On the other hand soft drinks are usually paired with meals making the sugar spike less intense. People should think about the daily consumption rather than occasional food, experts advise.

Chocolate’s Surprising Health Benefits

Chocolate, especially dark chocolate is good for your heart and circulation. It helps keep arteries flexible and prevents clogs. It’s also beneficial for your skin with studies showing that flavonoids in dark chocolate protect against UV rays.

Moreover chocolate can control coughs! It contains theobromine which helps suppress the part of the brain responsible for coughing and it may even help with weight loss. A small piece of chocolate before a meal can trigger hormones that make you feel full helping you eat less.

Dark chocolate can protect brain cells from damage especially in cases of stroke. It might also delay diabetes onset and improve cholesterol levels reducing the risk of heart disease.

The Irony: Biscuits in Everyday Life

Here’s where the irony lies. Biscuits like Bourbon, Jim Jam and Hide & Seek have more added sugar than Kit Kat and Munch. Yet many parents would never give Kit Kat to their kids for school snacks but would happily pack biscuits. The reason is the Clever marketing due to which parents think biscuits are worse than chocolate.

Biscuits are promoted as healthy snacks. Whether they are labeled as “digestive” or “brain boosters” most biscuits in India contain maida, sugar and palm oil.
