Hapur officials conduct the raid and improve food safety. They found that fake tomato sauce was used instead of red tomato ketchup in many street foods like chowmein, burgers, and rolls. They seized 200 liters of chemically mixed sauce from vendors who had received it through distribution channels. The sauce was made using various acids, chemicals, and artificial colors.
Reports from several news outlets indicate that the fake tomato sauce was produced in unsanitary conditions and distributed widely to small local street vendors for resale.
Hapur Officials Found During The Fake Tomato Raid
While inspecting a restaurant, officials discovered large amounts of suspicious sauce sold in containers labeled as tomato ketchup. According to various reports, this product was not made from tomatoes. Instead, it contained synthetic dyes, acids, and other cheap chemical additives to give it a tomato-like appearance.
They sell this type of fake tomato sauce because it is very cheap to produce. The bright red color also helps increase sales of items at roadside stalls. However, this product raises serious health concerns for anyone who buys it regularly.
Health Risks Associated with Fake Ketchup
Food safety experts have warned of potential health risks from using manufactured ketchup. There is a high chance it could contain harmful ingredients, such as synthetic food dyes, artificial flavorings, and chemical preservatives. These chemicals can cause digestive issues, food poisoning, or long-term health problems if consumed regularly.
Even small portions of these sauces at roadside stalls become risky when used daily in dishes like noodles, burgers, or fried foods. Experts say that repeated exposure to the chemicals found in manufactured ketchup can eventually harm your liver and stomach.
