You’re not alone if your Instagram feed has recently been filled with videos of long lines, ringing bells, and a Viral Bihari selling samosas on the streets of London in desi style. The man behind these viral clips is a migrant from Bihar whose samosa business is making Rs 10 lakh a day. But long before the popularity of London Reels and online discussions, the story started decades ago with a single stall and a family recipe in Gujarat.
How Viral Bihari start selling samosa in London Metro
The tale of Bihari Samosa Ghantawala began in 1972 in Nadiad, Gujarat. KalishaprasadKishanlal Shah, a Bihari migrant, set up a small samosa stall with just one item: crisp, golden samosas made from a family recipe passed down from his mother’s kitchen in Bihar.
There were no signs or marketing plans. Instead, Shah relied on flavor and a simple concept to attract customers. Each time a fresh batch was ready, he rang a small bell.
Locals soon started calling him “Ghantawala Samosa Wala,” a nickname that would eventually shape the brand’s identity. Shah believed in a straightforward philosophy. He often said that feeding people well was more important than chasing profits, and word of mouth did the rest.
Growing Across Gujarat
Over the years, Shah’s sons developed the stall into a small but well-known brand throughout Gujarat. They opened outlets in cities like Ahmedabad, Anand, and Vadodara, sticking closely to the original recipe and method. There were no large investors or flashy promotions. The business grew steadily, supported by loyal customers and consistency.
By the time the third generation took over, the brand had already built decades of trust. What changed was their ambition. In 2024, the family chose to take Bihari Samosa Ghantawala beyond India, selecting London as their next destination. This time, they also began using social media extensively to attract an audience and raise awareness online about their store.
