Q&A ON CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)

1. How does coronavirus testing work? And, what does it include?

The COVID-19 test does not include any blood tests. While this includes a sore throat or nasal swab check for infection. After sampling, the doctors posted at the nodal hospitals can assess your physical health whether hospitalization is required or not. If not, you may be asked to remain isolated at home. But if the case is positive, then you must remain in quarantine for at least 14 days until recovery.

2. What will have to be done for testing of COVID-19 in India? Or, how to test for coronavirus?

If you want to get tested for coronavirus in India, you can call the Union Health Ministry’s 24*7 toll-free number 01123978046. You can also mail your queries to [email protected]. Your local district monitoring officer will visit you shortly and if the chance of infection is high, you may be taken to the nearest designated hospital for testing. We would not recommend you to use public transport as the government has set up separate ambulances for transportation.

3. Can you get infected again after recovering from the virus?

It has not yet been disclosed because a report states that some people in China re-attach to the virus after recovering from it. However, it has not been clear whether the person has fully recovered from the virus. “Because the virus needs at least 15 days to change a phase and “It’s not known how many of these changes would be needed for the virus to seem different enough to the immune system of someone who had a previous version of it for it to cause a fresh infection”, Says Scientists at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.

4. Can Wearing Masks Protect Us From Coronavirus?

“The mask is mandatory for those who are infected with the virus or are taking care of a COVID-19 patient”, the WHO said. A disposal face mask can only be used once. Do not repeat the mask once used. Do not waste the mask if you are not ill but always wear a mask when suffering from cough and sneeze.

5. People with weakened immune systems can easily get infected with this virus?

Yes, this is true. And, it is not only for this virus, but a weakened immune system can easily be infected with any virus. Experts say that the high immune system reduces the chances of infection. The WHO stated that the two major groups of people affected by the disease are the elderly and those with underlying medical conditions. The immune system is weakened in older people and has a tough time-fighting COVID-19. People who already have an underlying health condition like heart disease, diabetes or lung disease have a taxed immune system and cannot fight off the infection. However, you need to take the necessary precautions even if you are young and healthy.
