In a statewide effort against food fraud in Rajasthan, the Food Safety Department took significant action as part of the “Pure Food – War on Adulteration” initiative. They seized more than 43,000 liters of ghee that is adulterated.
43,000+ Litres of Adulterated Ghee seized in Rajasthan
Rajasthan Food Safety Commissioner Dr. T. Shubhamangala reported on Thursday that M/s Giridhar Milk Food Product, based in Shyam Vihar Colony at Machera in Jaipur, produces ghee under the brand name ‘Bhog Vinayak’. Laboratory tests revealed that samples of Bhog Vinayak brand ghee collected from Pratapgarh district were unsafe.
Following this, Rajasthan Additional Commissioner Bhagwat Singh, along with Designated Officer and Chief Medical and Health Officer (Jaipur First) Ravi Shekhawat, directed a team of food safety officers to inspect the firm.
Legal action against’Bhog Vinayak’ firm for selling Adulterated Ghee
During the inspection, they found that the firm was not operating from the address listed on its food license and official records. Instead, it was running from a different undisclosed location, which is a clear violation of the Food Safety and Standards Act.
Rajasthan Officials also found that another company, Shri Shyam Milk Food Product, was working from the same premises. The inspection led to the seizure of a large quantity of ghee from the three factories of both firms. This included 9,065 liters of Bhog Vinayak brand ghee in various package sizes, 17,741 liters of Haryana Cream brand ghee, and 16,617 liters of Naksh Dairy brand ghee.
After collecting samples of all brands, the entire 43,421 liters of ghee seized on the spot. Further action taken under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, based on the results of laboratory tests.
