National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) under the National Health Mission (NHM) applied across the country with the goal of early detection of cases, suitable control and prevent new cases. TB-Mukt Bharat Abhiyan take specific measures through the Government to ensure a success treatment for all patients including multidrug-resistant cases.
About TB-Mukt Bharat Abhiyan
- Track all Tuberculosis patients via Ni-kshay portal for the whole period of treatment.
- Monitoring of treatment adherence through Ayushman Arogya Mandir and peripheral medical examiners like ASHAs.
- Link Tuberculosis patients with community- based treatment supporters like ASHAs community volunteers and provision for incentives to treatment supporters.
- Universal Drug Susceptibility Testing (UDST) applied to ensure every identified patient is examined for drug resistance on the time of diagnosis.
- 826 Drug Resistant Tuberculosis treatment centers established throughout all districts for decentralized care
- In 2021, shorter, safer, all oral drug-resistant treatment routine introduced.
- In 2024, a more recent, shorter and more efficients treatment routine which include four-drug mixture – Bedaquiline, Pretomanid, Linezolid and Moxifloxacin introduced for management of drug-resistant Tuberculosis.
Sustainable Development Goals related to TB abhiyan
Tuberculosis campaigns prepared in all State/UTs with the involvement of numerous nearby non-government organizations. Further, the Government launched a 100 days TB-Mukt Bharat Abhiyan to identified 347 precedence districts across 33 State/UTs, to boost up the revolution to gain Sustainable Development Goals related to TB, in which Jan Bhaghidari activities are carried out with the involvement of elected representatives, line ministries, schools, Panchayati Raj institutions, self-help groups, anganwadis, local non-government agencies and civil society groups to increase focus on TB to combat stigma and to encourage early health-looking for citizen.
