A high-ranking member of the Central Committee of the CPI (Maoist), Patiram Majhi, also known as Anal da shot during a large joint anti-Naxal operation called Meghaburu. Security officials confirmed that this encounter led to the death of several top Naxalites. Operation Meghaburu began on Thursday, involving 209 CoBRA, the Chaibasa district police, and Jharkhand Jaguar in the Saranda forest.
During an intense gunfight, Patiram Majhi, who had a reward of Rs 1 crore on his head in Jharkhand killed along with 14 other Maoists.
17 Maoists killed in Jharkhand Security Operation
Anal was a member of the Central Committee, the highest decision-making group of CPI (Maoist), and faced as many as 149 charges in Jharkhand. On Friday, during the ongoing search operation, shots continued to fired intermittently. Later, two more bodies found, raising the total to 17. Security forces view this operation as a significant success.
SDPO (Kiriburu) Ajay Kerketta said, “The encounter, which lasted for almost two days, has stopped now, but the search operation will resume in daylight.”
Naxal body found after encounter
Meanwhile, on Friday, security forces found another Naxal body as the encounter, which started in the Saranda forest area of Chaibasa, entered its second day, according to police.
Earlier in January, six Naxals killed in an encounter in Bijapur district in the Bastar range, officials stated. On January 20, PM Modi expressed concerns about the rising influence of urban Naxalism during a speech to BJP party workers at the party’s national headquarters.
Following that, nine Maoists, with a total bounty of Rs 47 lakh, surrendered in Chhattisgarh, along with a stockpile of weapons and equipment, as Odisha Police reported. After the surrender, the Nawarangpur district in Odisha declared free from Naxal activity.
