A case from Uttarakhand’s Ramnagar city has resurfaced online. A 17-year-old Drugs Addict Girl transmitted HIV to 19 men during last one and half year.
The incident came to light in October last year in the Gularghatti region in Nainital district. According to reports, the teenager was in contact with various local men, and a number of them later tested positive for HIV.
Men Unaware about Drugs Addict Girl transmitted HIV
A submission that gained great attention claimed that the man who came in contact with the female had no idea she was HIV positive. Some of them were married, which brought about the further spread of the virus to their wives.
“A 17-year-old girl gave HIV to 19 adolescents in Nainital, Uttarakhand. She was addict on smack, and to fund her dependancy, she engaged in physical relationships with men. The men didn’t understand that she had HIV. She slept with even some married men, whose wives also were given HIV,” read post.
Infections Linked To Drug-Addicted Teen
The case of Drugs Addict Girl transmitted HIV spread when several young men in the area started reporting risky health problems. They had approached the Integrated Counselling and Testing Centre (ICTC) at Ramdatt Joshi Joint Hospital, wherein assessments confirmed they were HIV positive.
Research observed and pointed to an unusual link: a teenage girl with a financially deprived family who was taking heroin. During counselling, it was discovered that she was sexually active with many of the infected men over several months.
