Seventeen-year-old Kaamya Karthikeyan, a Class 12 student at Navy Children School in Mumbai, has set a remarkable record. She is now the youngest female in the world to climb the highest peaks on all seven continents, completing the prestigious Seven Summits Challenge.
It finally culminated on December 24 when she climbed Mt Vinson in Antarctica along with her father, Commander S Karthikeyan. The Indian Navy confirmed that it was done when she summited the peak at 5:20 PM Chilean Standard Time.
Kaamya’s feat comprises conquering peaks such as Mt Everest in Asia, Mt Denali in North America, Mt Aconcagua in South America, Mt Elbrus in Europe, Mt Kilimanjaro in Africa, Mt Kosciuszko in Australia, and finally, Mt Vinson in Antarctica.

The Indian Navy welcomed the historic achievement by Kaamya, where they said, “Congratulations to Kaamya Karthikeyan and her father. Kaamya Karthikeyan, a Class XII student from @IN_NCS Mumbai, scripts history as she becomes the youngest woman in the world to have summited seven highest peaks of the seven continents.
Her school, Navy Children School in Mumbai, also hailed her achievement. “Breaking barriers and reaching new heights! Kaamya Karthikeyan becomes the youngest female in the world to conquer the Seven Summits. A moment of immense pride for NCS Mumbai!”
Kaamya’s passion to climb mountains started early. When she was seven years old, she took her first trek in Uttarakhand and has been chasing dreams since then. She became the youngest Indian climber to conquer Mt Everest when she was 16 years old, which set the backdrop for this historic achievement.
