3 killed, 15 injured As Bus Rams Parked Vehicle Near Tamil Nadu Melur

Three people, including two women, killed and more than 15 others were injured when a private bus crashed into another parked bus near Melur in Tamil Nadu. The accident happened on the Trichy-Madurai National Highway at Pallapatti, within the Kottampatti police area.

 According to police sources, a private bus traveling from Chennai to Madurai had stopped at a roadside tea stall in the Pallapatti suburban area. While the driver was away, another private bus—on its way from Chennai to Marthandam—lost control and slammed into the back of the parked vehicle with great force.

Three passengers, Kanagaranjitham (65), Sudarshan (23), and an unidentified woman, died instantly in the crash.

Rescue efforts started

Over 15 people on both buses injured to varying degrees. Locals rushed to the scene to assist in the rescue efforts. Ambulances and private cars used to take the injured to government hospitals in Madurai and Melur in Tamil Nadu for treatment.

A police team led by Melur Deputy Superintendent of Police Sivakumar, along with staff from the Kottampatti station arrived. They oversee the rescue operations and manage highway traffic after the incident was reported.

An investigation launched to find out if driver fatigue or speeding led to the tragic event.
