As many as nine tourists died at the scene, while three others suffered serious injuries when a private travel bus carrying 35 tourists crashed into an obstacle in the forest in Papikonda National Park near Tulasipaka village in Alluri Sitarama Raju district. All the tourists came from the Chittoor district.
The accident happened around 4 a.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025 due to poor visibility while the group was traveling from Araku Valley. They were set to arrive in Bhadhachalam that Friday morning.

The Alluri Sitarama Raju Superintendent of Police office confirmed, “Nine tourists have died on the spot. The rescue operation is ongoing.” The Maredumilli and Chintoor police are involved in the rescue operation.
