Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has issued shoot-at-sight orders in the state Dhubri district. The order is in response over increasing communal tensions following reports of desecration of a Hindu temple. During a visit to violence-hit areas, Sarma said the act of throwing a cow’s head near a temple. It vowed strict action against those responsible. The police have arrested 38 peoples in an overnight crackdown after the “cow head” incident, Sarma said in a post on X.

In a post on X, the CM wrote, “I went to Dhubri today to evaluate the scenario, and could cross again. I assured the peoples of Dhubri that no one need to live in worry. Assam government is with you.”
CM also explained that law and order in Dhubri have been under pressure for over every week. On June 7, a day after Eid al-Adha (Bakrid), a cow’s head was observed in the front of a Hanuman temple in Dhubri city. It prompts each Hindu and Muslim communities to enchantment for peace and communal harmony. However, similar incidents were occurs once more the next day, such as stone-pelting at night.
Sarma also found out that provocative posters were placed up an afternoon before Bakrid by an employer known as ‘Nabin Bangla,’ which expressed intentions to merge Dhubri with Bangladesh. “Such things are trying to disrupt peace,” the CM said.
Issue Warning to ‘Beef Mafia’ Network
The Himanta Biswa Sarma also claimed that a new “beef mafia” has emerged in the place. “In the beyond, some peoples ate up cow during Bakrid, however this time, heaps of livestock had been reportedly added in from West Bengal. He confirmed that he had starts an investigation into the problem and directed authorities to arrest those responsible for beginning this illegal trade.
