Atmanirbhar Bharat: PM Modi inaugurate India’s first 9000 HP locomotive engine

PM Narendra Modi has inaugurated India’s first 9000 HP locomotive engine on May 26 (Monday) and dedicated to Atmanirbhar Bharat. He visit his home town first time after Op Sindoor. During his two-day visit, PM Modi will take part in events across three districts – Dahod , Kachchh, and Gandhinagar – on 26 and 27 May.

Atmanirbhar Bharat Devoted to 9000 HP Locomotive Dahod

The 9000 HP Locomotive used for the freight teach operations. It will going to be most powerful locomotive (9000 HP) that produced at the Dahod workshop. This will help the national transporter in enhancing haulage potential, speed, scale, and usage of rolling shares on its freight halls. This locomotive is ‘Make in India’ and is ready with the state-of-the-art facilities, together with Kavach technology.

The Railway Production Unit at Gujarat’s Dahod set up under PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model with investment of Rs 20000 crore. Currently, the Dahod Rail Factory is generating 4 engines, all of to be able to proudly undergo the label “Manufactured in Dahod.”

9000 HP New Locomotive Speed and Maintenance

The new 9000 HP locomotive engine produced on the Dahod Factory can have a high speed limited to 120 kmph under Atmanirbhar Bharat project. However, it will have a average speed of 75 km per hour. The Dahod-made locomotive engines will have a potential to carry 4,600 tonnes of shipment. It can update 100 vans based on average load of 40 tonnes

The maintenance of 9000 HP, the 6-axle electric engine, set to execute at depots in Kharagpur (West Bengal), Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Raipur (Chhattisgarh), and Pune (Maharashtra).
