This protest took place in Basant Vihar Colony, where the road has been in poor condition for years. Aparna Patil, councilor for Ward 58, stood by the pothole and spoke about the seriousness of the problem. She noted that there had already been numerous accidents on the road, resulting in injuries. Despite earlier completion of tenders and work orders, repair work had yet to begin, putting residents at risk.
Local residents also show concerns about road conditions
Local residents supported Aparna Patil protest and called for quick action. Many described the damaged road as dangerous for everyone, including schoolchildren, the elderly, and cyclists. The sight of a councilor sitting in a pothole quickly gained attention and went viral.
The protest caught the notice of officials from the municipal corporation. AparnaPatil accused the Congress-led corporation of negligence and political bias in delaying road repairs. She warned that she would organize a larger protest at the municipal building if repairs were not addressed soon. After that, they indicated that construction might begin relatively soon.
This protest highlights the broader issue of road safety in Gwalior. Potholes and unfinished construction projects have resulted in many accidents in the city.
