The family of a 41-year-old man, one of seven people killed in an air ambulance crash, had taken out a loan of Rs 8 lakh to hire the charter plane involved in the tragedy. Sanjay, a burn victim transported to Delhi for treatment, died along with his wife and a relative this morning when the air ambulance crashed in Chatra district of Jharkhand shortly after taking off from Ranchi.

Four others, two pilots, one doctor, and one paramedic, also died in the crash involving a Beechcraft C90 aircraft operated by Redbird Airways, a charter service based in Delhi. Ajay, the deceased man’s brother, told that the family even considered selling their property and land to pay for Sanjay’s treatment.
Instead, they borrowed money from friends and well-wishers to cover the costs of his private hospital care in Delhi, as well as the air ambulance rental.
Borrow 8 lakh loan for ambulance, but tragedy happens
Friends and relatives gathered at the deceased’s home in Latehar, Jharkhand. Sanjay was critically injured last Monday when a electrical short circuit at his small hotel in Chandwa caused a fire. As the main provider for his family, he suffered severe burns while working.
With his condition worsening and local treatment options exhausted, the family decided to move him to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi for advanced care. Along with Sanjay, his wife Archana, and their relative Dhruv also boarded the ill-fated air ambulance.
On Monday, the air ambulance left Ranchi carrying Sanjay, Archana, and Dhruv, along with medical staff and crew members. Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft crashed in Chatra district. None of the seven people on board survived.
