A 17-year-old boy died, reportedly by suicide, after jumping in front of a Uttam Nagar East Metro station in the Dwarka area. The boy recently passed his Class 12 board exams and was attending coaching classes for competitive exams at a center in Dwarka. His father works as a driver for the Delhi Transport Corporation.

Police were informed about the incident around 11 a.m. Witnesses reported seeing the boy jump to his death. “When we arrived, we learned that one person had jumped onto the track from platform No. 1 of station and was hit by a train coming from the Dwarka side.
His body had already been recovered from the tracks. After further inquiry, we identified the boy,” Deputy Commissioner of police (Metro) Kushal Pal Singh said.
Suicide due to personal issues
The family told police that he had been upset about personal issues. “His father is a driver for DTC, and he was the only child in the family. The body has been moved to DDU Hospital. An inquest proceeding under section 194 BNSS has been started in this case,” the DCP added.
