Seven people died after a car was crushed between two container trucks that caught fire on a bridge along the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway, just outside Pune city. Officials reported that 8 to 10 others injured in the accident on the Navale Bridge. The incident happened when a container truck lost control and crashed into several vehicles near the bridge.

“A heavy container truck was heading towards Mumbai on the highway. When it reached the bridge, the driver lost control, likely due to brake failure. This large vehicle then struck another big container in front of it. Sadly, a car caught between these two containers got crushed,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Sambhaji Kadam.
Fire erupts after collision
The Pune accident led to a massive fire that engulfed the vehicles. Videos of the incident circulated online, showing the car surrounded by flames. City Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, who visited the scene, said, “The fire started because of the collision.”
“We are investigating how the accident occurred. Right now, our main focus is to ensure that the injured receive immediate treatment at the hospital,” an official said. Authorities have begun retrieving bodies from the vehicles, while the injured were quickly taken to a hospital.
