Caste Census Start today in Karnataka Today, May Delayed in Bengaluru by 1 or 2 days

The Social and Educational Survey, known as the ‘caste census,’ set to begin in Karnataka on Monday, September 22. However, it may experience some delays in the Greater Bengaluru area due to training and necessary preparations that are still pending.

The caste census in Karnataka comes as various castes and community groups work to consolidate their populations for better representation.

Why is it delayed in Bengaluru? 

The caste census, which starts today across Karnataka, may delayed by a day or two in Greater Bengaluru due to the recent formation of five new corporations. The Chairman of the Backward Classes Commission, Madhusudan R Naik, mentioned that the delay is at the request of the administrative authorities in Greater Bengaluru. “But our program runs from September 22 to October 7,” he added.

Cost of Survey 

The survey will conducts at an estimated cost of Rs 420 crore and will include a 60-question questionnaire. Officials have claimed the survey will done in a scientific way.

The survey, conducted by the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes, starts today and will continue until October 7. It will involve around 1.75 lakh enumerators, mostly government school teachers, and aims to reach about 7 crore people across around 2 crore households in Karnataka. Due to this, survey delayed in Bengaluru.
