The government requested approval from the Lok Sabha for additional spending of over ₹2.81 lakh crore in the current fiscal year. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the second batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants.
Finance Minister Presents Supplementary Demands in Lok Sabha
“Parliament’s approval is needed to authorize additional spending of ₹2,81,289.26crore. Out of this amount, the proposals that involve net cash out go a total of ₹2,01,142.96crore. The gross additional expenditure, balanced by savings from Ministries and Departments or by increased receipts and recoveries, amounts to ₹80,145.71 crore,” according to the Supplementary Demands for Grants.
