Coconut Oil is one of the most common oils found in Indian homes. People use it for cooking, skincare, and haircare. However, a recent video has raised concerns, making many wonder about the purity of the products they buy. Is the coconut oil we use every day really as pure as the labels state?
Women in grocery store expose Coconut Oil
In the viral video on X, a woman stands in a grocery store holding a bottle of oil. The label on the front claims it contains “100% pure coconut oil.” But when she flips it over, the ingredient list shows something different: it includes not only coconut oil but also vegetable oil.
A Manufacturer’s Honest Take
One response came from a man who operates a oil manufacturing facility, Sri Krishna Mills Co. His reply offered a rare look into the cost of producing pure coconut oil and the challenges smaller producers face when competing with larger brands.
He wrote, “I have a production facility that was established over 110 years ago. We take pride in maintaining quality for more than a century, but it is very hard to compete in a market where it is sold for less than the conversion cost, not to mention other expenses like sorting and packing.”
