Dargah Wall Collapsed in Delhi: Six dead, five injured near Humayun’s Tomb

Six peoples died and 5 others injured after a portion of the wall and the roof of the Dargah Wall Collapsed in Delhi. The incident occurs because of the heavy rains, as per police. The dargah placed near the boundary wall of the 16th-century Humayun’s Tomb in Delhi, a UNESCO global background site, but isn’t always part of the complex.

At least 12 people were in the dargah whilst the incident occurs, together with numerous who had come to peer the travelling Imam Mohammed Rafi, while as others have been taking refuge from the rain. They pulled out from the debris in a four-hour long multi-company rescue operation.

Dargah Wall Collapsed in Delhi

Various teams from Delhi Police, Delhi Fire Services, the Archaeological Survey of India, and the National Disaster Response reached the spot to begin the rescue operations. “Two of the rooms in the masjid’s premises collapsed because of heavy rains, consisting of their ceiling and one side in their walls, and at the least 12 peoples trapped in the debris,” said the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Hemant Tiwari.

One of the 12 rescued from the rubble escaped without a injuries. “9 people sent to the AIIMS trauma centre, out of which five declared dead through the hospital, even as others are under commentary. The one person sent to (Lok Nayak Hospital) LNJP declared dead, while as another person treated at Manohar Lohia Hospital,” Mr. Tiwari said.

One more wall declared dangerous

“The victims of Dargah Wall Collapsed in Delhi have been all site visitors on the mosque; many had been taking safe haven inside it from the rains,” Joint Commissioner (Southern Range) Sanjay Kumar Jain said. “After the rescue operation, some other wall of the same building declared risky,” he said.

The police have seized the mosque’s digital video recorder and are questioning the dargah’s caretakers, the DCP said. Further investigation continue, and civic groups are informed so important legal action is taken, he said.
