Durga Homa, Gantanad, and 12,000 Voices Pray for Peace in Delhi
On Saturday evening, March 21, Dhyan Chand Stadium became a powerful mix of ancient wisdom and modern inquiry.
The DurgaHoma, a Vedic ritual that calls for inner strength, courage, and the end of fear and ignorance, featured Gantanad. Thousands rang temple bells, and 12,000 voices chanted the Devi Kavacham together during the ongoing Chaitra Navaratri.
Ancient practices perform with environmental concerns
In a unique effort, scientists conducted studies alongside the Homa with help from AIIMS and ICMR, and monitoring support from Max Hospital. One study looked at environmental factors and microbial content before and after the ritual. The other tracked physiological changes, such as heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, oxygen levels, and well-being indices, in about 100 participants. This work produced clear data on the measurable impact of these ancient practices.
