Delhi CM Rekha Gupta surprised the Trade and Taxes Department office at ITO on Wednesday. She was unhappy with the absence of officers during working hours, officials reported.

She talked to the staff who were there and asked about their reporting times. She requested a detailed report on the department’s attendance records. “No laxity, no excuses,” she emphasized. She made it clear that discipline applies to everyone, from staff members to the commissioners.
During her surprise inspection at the GST office, she noticed that several staff members, including senior officers, were not present. She ordered that show-cause notices be issued to them right away, according to a statement from the CM Office.
Reveal absent seniors
Rekha Gupta said the government would not accept negligence or inefficiency at any level. She explained that her visit aimed to review the systems and enforce accountability and discipline throughout the administration. She highlighted that biometric attendance is mandatory for everyone and instructed departments to ensure strict compliance.
Officials must submit biometric attendance records from the past month immediately so responsibility can be clearly assigned, the statement said.
