The Delhi Police called a video shared by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on social media. She alleged that a Bengali-talking women and her children assaulted in the national capital for speaking their language, “fabricated” and “politically inspired.”
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Abhishek Dhania on Monday said that the police took instant action on this video shared on the platform ‘X’ through the West Bengal CM, in which she claimed that the girl and her children brutally assaulted by Delhi Police.
Delhi police rejects the claims of Mamata Banerjee
“Upon inquiry, we recognized the woman as Sanjanu Parveen. During questioning, she alleged that at the night time of July 26, 4 men in undeniable clothes posing as police employees took her and her child to a secluded spot and demanded Rs 25,000, which she claimed to have paid,” DCP Dhania said.
However, the DCP said that a detailed investigation, such as analysis of CCTV pictures and nearby intelligence, discovered inconsistencies in her story.
Officer called the video as “ fabricated”
“During sustained thinking, the women admitted that her relative, a political employee from Malda district in West Bengal, had requested her to make the video. The video then circulated locally in Bengal and later surfaced on social media,” the officer said.
Respond to Mamata Banerjee claims and terming the video “baseless and fabricated”, SCP Dhania said that the pictures intentionally created to defame the Delhi Police. “It appears to be a deliberate try to malign the picture of Delhi Police through a politically encouraged narrative.
