DK Shivakumar spoke on Bengaluru Roads Post
The latest trigger for this criticism is a logistics firm’s CEO announcing that the company plans to move its office from the city’s Outer Ring Road due to traffic jams.
When asked about the state government’s plans for India’s Silicon Valley, he said, “Bengaluru was too big, so we need to do more. To meet these demands, we formed five corporations. For larger projects, we decided to establish the Greater Bengaluru Authority.”
Mr. Shivakumar noted that many areas in the city where tech workers live still under panchayats. It make it harder to address civic issues. “We are trying to bring them under GBA. There are significant challenges, and we have created a separate corporation for this area to solve the problems.”
Roads are in progress
The Deputy Chief Minister assured yesterday that Bengaluru roads are receiving attention and that repair work is in progress. “Funds have been set aside, contractors have started work, and they have strict deadlines. We are dedicated to providing safer and smoother travel for our people,” he said on X.
This statement followed concerns from key figures in Indian business about potholes and traffic problems on Bengaluru’s roads. Among them was Rajesh Yabaji, CEO and co-founder of logistics firm BlackBuck, who announced that they have decided to move from Bellandur, their home for nine years. “But it’s now very hard to continue here. We have decided to move out,” he said in a post on X.
