An elderly woman in Kozhikode, Kerala, stopped a man on a scooter from using a footpath to bypass traffic. She refused to move until he returned to the main road.
The incident was captured on video near a traffic signal in Eranji palam and shared by Instagram blogger Aflah E, who wrote, “When ammachi says enough is enough.”

In the video, the woman walks along the footpath as the man tries to ride through the pedestrian space to avoid a traffic jam. To block his path, she firmly places her foot in front of the scooter.
She tells him that the footpath is for pedestrians and won’t let him pass. When the scooter rider initially refuses to back off, the woman takes out her phone and starts recording. Eventually, he turns around and returns to the road.

Several users in the comments recognized her as a former Kerala hostel warden. One person wrote, “She was my hostel warden, but she felt like family. I still remember one night when my friends and I were playing cards at 1 am, laughing loudly, and suddenly she walked in and scolded me like I had committed a big crime. She could be strict, loud, and scary at times, but she also had a caring and loving side.”
The user added, “She would give me two pappadams instead of one because she knew how much I loved them. That was her way of showing love, hidden within her scoldings, rules, and extra care that only a motherly heart could give. Meanwhile, others criticized the rider: “The fact that he fought for so long to go instead of realizing his mistake and turning back, even after traffic cleared, is unbelievable. We need to do better.”
