Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar set to meet with senior officials and police officers in West Bengal. The purpose of these meetings is to review the state’s preparedness for the upcoming Assembly elections, according to officials.

The CEC will also hold a press conference amid concerns about alleged arbitrary deletions in the post-SIR electoral rolls. Mr. Kumar, with Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi will meet with West Bengal Chief Secretary Nandini Chakravorty, Director General of Police (DGP) Piyush Pandey, and other senior officials. They will assess the arrangements related to the election in the State.
Review of Security and Administrative Coordination
The poll panel will review the coordination between the State administration and security agencies, including the deployment of central armed police forces. The commission will meet with the Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal, the State police nodal officer, and the CAPF nodal officer to go over logistical arrangements and security planning, according to an official from the CEO’s office. The commission also expected to interact with booth-level officers (BLOs) and hold a press conference later in the day.
