Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani had boarded the Air India flight that crashed near the Ahmedabad airport on Thursday. The Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner plane board for London crashed after 5 minutes of taking off near Ahmedabad airport on Thursday afternoon.

According to the passenger listing report released Digital, “Vijay Ramniklal Rupani” was the 12th passenger at the list. He booked in Z class, which falls under the Business Class category.
Visuals from outside the Rajkot house of Vijay Rupani show a sad environment. Neighbours, involved and teary-eyed, have started collecting outside his home. Concern and uncertainty increase as they wait for official confirmation.
“Yes, I’ve come to know that the plane has crashed and that Vijay Rupani came on board. But nothing is confirmed. We are extremely concerned. We are right around the corner. We’ve been neighbors since 1988. We’re like family. My husband are their family doctor and very close to them. I can’t believe that this has passed off,” said a woman named Kiran to the news agency, almost breaking down as she spoke.
Air India Flight Carrying 242 Passengers
The flight carrying 242 people, including 230 passengers and 12 crew members, one among whom is the former Gujarat CM, Vijay Rupani. According to the passenger list, the flight took off with 169 Indians, 53 British nationals, 7 Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian. Rupani served because the Chief Minister of Gujarat from August 2016 to September 2021, before resigning before 2022 state elections.
Emergency services had been rushed to the spot after crash, which includes seven fire engines. Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel said that instructions were given to the government in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar to “set up a hall for transporting the injured.”
