Former cabinet secretary Rajiv Gauba appointed as full-time member of the NITI Aayog on Tuesday. Mr Gauba is the 1982-batch IAS officer of the Jharkhand cadre. He is serve as top bureaucrat of the country for 5 years from 2019 to August 2024.
The notification read, “In continuation of Cabinet Secretariat’s notification No. 511/1/1/2024-Cab. dated 16.07.2024, the PM has approved appointment of Shri Rajiv Gauba, IAS (JH:1982) Retd. as Full-Time Member, NITI Aayog with instant effect and till further orders, on same terms and conditions as applicable to Full-Time Members of NITI Aayog.”
Who is Rajiv Gauba
The Rajiv Gaubais seasoned bureaucrat , having years of experience in policy making, governance and administration. He has held various high profile positions in Indian government. He also play role in policy creation and implementation. He was experienced in key bureaucratic and governance reforms that Modi government starts and for execution of one of closely guarded historic legislation of Jammu and Kashmir, Reorganisation Act, 2019 that was conceived when he was Union Home Secretary
Before it, he served as Secretary in the Ministry of Urban Development, but as Young IAS officer, he came to deputation to the Centre from Jharkhand to emerge as Director in the Ministry of Environment
Rajiv appointed in Niti Aayog
Rajiv Gauba is currently appoints as 5th full time member of Niti Aayog. His profile shows that Guaba was appointed as Private Secretary to Defence Minister George Fernandes at time when India involved in Kargil War with Pakistan. He also served in various tribal district of Dumka in state, along with places such as Gaya, Muzaffarpur and Nalanda
