Four people, including three brothers, lost their lives in a tragic road accident after a car lost control and fell into a canal in Mathura, police said on Thursday.
According to officials, the accident took place on Wednesday night near the Nahla Devi bridge when the car was traveling from Mahmoodpur to Deeg. A sharp turn on the road caused the driver to lose control at high speed. The vehicle crashed into a roadside barrier before plunging into a nearly six-meter-wide canal, said Rural Superintendent of Police Suresh Chandra Rawat.

Local residents rushed to the scene and managed to pull the car out of the canal. However, all four occupants inside the vehicle not saved. The police informed soon after the rescue attempt. The bodies sent for post-mortem examination, police confirmed.
Dead bodies found
The deceased identified as Rahul (23) and his cousins Amit (23) and Mohit (21), all residents of Baldevgarh under the Mahavan police station limits. The identity of the fourth victim, believed to be a friend of the three and in his twenties, is yet to be confirmed.
