Himachal Mandi Bus Accident: Bus Falls into 200 ft deep gorge, 2 Killed and 20 Injured

Two people had been killed, and around 25 injured after a passenger bus fall off the street and plunged into a 200-meter-deep gorge in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district on Tuesday. The Himachal Mandi Bus Accident occurred in the Patrighat area close to Sarkaghat after the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to fall off the street.

Around 35 people were on the bus, and 25 people rescued in injured condition. Two bodies pulled out from under the debris by the police, together with locals who rushed to the scene to rescue the passengers.

Rescue operations starts after Himachal Mandi Bus Accident

Responding to the emergency, local residents, Sarkaghat police, and close by villagers worked together to reach the crash site under tough conditions – navigating slim, rain-slick roads and using ropes to get access to rugged terrain. Several ambulances and medical teams sent from nearby towns.

According to initial updates, 20–25 passengers suffered accidents ranging from minor fractures and cuts. These injured people were rushed to the Nerchowk Medical College, located around 20 kms away from the accident scene. As of now, hospital authorities are comparing their conditions and stabilizing the ones in critical condition. Some people feared to be trapped under the bus debris. The rescue ops concluded after they pulled out dead bodies.

Heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh

Heavy rainfall occurs in the place can cause accident. The road by Patrighat is notorious for its steep drops and tight turns, and under inclement climates, the risk increase. Local government has entreated motorists to practice extra caution.
