The newly elected provincial president of the AJAKS, the association for employees from the Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) in Madhya Pradesh, Senior IAS officer Santosh Verma has found himself in the spotlight again. A video showing a remark he made at the organization’s convention on Sunday has surfaced online.
Brahmins condemned the IAS Officer Santosh Verma remarks
“Until a Brahmin donates his daughter to my son or has a relationship with him, reservations should continue,” Verma said.
As the video circulated on social media, Brahmin organizations condemned Verma’s statement. They called it “indecent, casteist, and deeply insulting to Brahmin daughters.”
“An FIR must filed immediately for comments made against Brahmin daughters. The IAS officer’s remarks are indecent, objectionable, and an insult to the Brahmin community. If a criminal case not filed against him, the Brahmin Samaj start a protest,” said Pushpendra Mishra, the state president of All India Brahmin Samaj.
Controversies and cases against Verma
Mishra pointed out that the comments violate All India Services Conduct Rules, especially when the government is promoting schemes such as Ladli Laxmi, Ladli Behna, and Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, which aim to protect the dignity and welfare of girls and women. This is not the first time IAS Officer Santosh Verma has faced controversy. His troubled history has come to light again due to this latest incident.
In Indore, he arrested after a judge filed a complaint accusing him of forging two court orders related to a case of alleged criminal intimidation of a woman. He allegedly used these forged documents to get promoted from the state cadre to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). He also accused in two exploitation cases, where women claimed he promised marriage and then intimidated or deceived them.
