The Government of India has assured that the country’s supply of cooking gas remains steady despite ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia. These tensions have raised concerns over global energy shipments.
During a PIB briefing today, officials from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said that they are closely monitoring the situation. They confirmed that there is no need for consumers to panic or rush to book LPG cylinders. This reassurance comes in light of worries about potential disruptions near the Strait of Hormuz. It is a key route for many global energy shipments.
LPG Production Increased in India
Government officials mentioned that they have taken steps to boost domestic production to maintain a stable supply across the country. Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said, “Domestic production of LPG has increased by 30 %.”
She also highlighted that the government actively watching distribution channels to ensure that households and essential institutions receive uninterrupted supplies.
Govt Appeals to Avoid Panic Buying
Although the situation in West Asia is being monitored, there has been no disruption to LPG supply throughout the country.
“It is a small concern, but despite that, no shortage has been reported. Do not believe in rumors or engage in panic buying,” Sharma said. She also reported that none of the country’s approximately 25,000 LPG distributors have indicated any supply shortages so far.
