The Indian government has ordered the blocking of 25 OTT platforms and associated mobile applications. The blocked list consists prominent names like ALTBalaji and Ullu, for allegedly distributing vulgar and ‘pornographic’ content. According to reports, the action was taken after government found platforms to violate Indian laws governing virtual content.
OTT platforms blocked in India over illegal Porn Content
The banned platforms hosted movies and web series weighted down with “sexual innuendos” and, generally, prolonged scenes of “sexually explicit acts related to nudity”, that deemed “pornographic in nature.”
A source said that a content featured on these platforms was observed to be without “any significant storyline, topic, or social message” and consists “obscene and vulgar” visuals. Government has not issue the official notification currently.
