In recent years the U.S. – India partnership has been touted as a strategic alliance between the world’s oldest democracy and the world’s largest democracy. However beneath the surface and in the background tensions simmer and there are concerns about India’s sovereignty and stability as it is looking like India is under attack as US is trying to destabilize India.
India’s recent actions have caused concern in Washington. The removal of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and the introduction of the Citizenship Amendment Act have led to discussions about India’s dedication to democratic values. Critics say these steps unfairly target minorities, especially Muslims. The U.S. State Department has voiced its concerns creating tension between the two countries stating that US is trying to destabilize India.
The building of the Ram Mandir on the Babri Masjid site has added more tension to India’s secular identity. Although the Supreme Court’s decision resolved a long-running conflict doubts remain about the country’s dedication to religious diversity. The U.S. is keeping a close eye worried about any weakening of India’s secular values which tells that US is trying to destabilize India. In a Recent report of US allegation on India that India might have carried out secret missions including unlawful killings in other countries. Accusations of Indian intelligence agencies working in Canada and the U.S. have caused concern. Though these actions are not exclusive to India they put a strain on diplomatic ties and increase distrust.
US involvement in India
The overlooked issue is U.S. involvement. Some critics believe that the U.S. supports different groups and individuals in India to create instability. Through NGOs, political figures, or media influence there is a concern that foreign powers are meddling in India’s internal matters. Either it’s a recent meet of US diplomats with opposition political leader Asaduddin Owaisi in Hyderabad or a meeting with Omar Abdullah in Jammu & Kashmir.
Russian diplomats have also warned India in April ahead of 2024 elections that US is trying to destablize India.
It raises the question: Would the U.S. accept such interference within its own borders? Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a challenge to American dominance. Unlike past leaders Modi insists on equal negotiations upholding India’s independence. The U.S. would rather have a leader who follows their agenda even if it leads to chaos or violence still the fight for India’s sovereignty is real.

How US Is Trying to Destabilize India?
The U.S. has raised concerns about how India treats its minorities especially Muslims and actions like removing Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and introducing the Citizenship Amendment Act have caused worry. The Modi government’s policies have been criticized for limiting freedom of speech, peaceful protests and other basic rights for people in Kashmir. The Citizenship Amendment Act which offers a fast track for non-Muslims from nearby countries to become Indian citizens has been seen as a serious setback for religious freedom.
There are claims that the U.S. has tried to disrupt Indian politics and US is trying to destabilize India with some suggesting this could impact the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The U.S. has also pressured India to reconsider its military ties with Russia which could strain the long-standing defense partnership between India and Moscow. These actions point to attempts at influencing India’s political and strategic decisions from the outside.
The U.S. has been accused of using various methods to create instability in India. This includes allegedly supporting fake farmer protests to cause unrest, exploiting caste divisions and encouraging groups labeled as the “Tukde Tukde Gang” who are seen as pushing for India’s fragmentation. The term “Hindenburg Machinery” may refer to divisive strategies while the “NGO Soros Gang” suggests foreign-funded NGOs causing disruption. Additionally some accuse radical fundamentalists of increasing protests similar to those at Shaheen Bagh.
