India Slams Delhi Protest propaganda and respond to Bangladeshi warning. This protest was in response to the killing of a Hindu man. India said there was no breach of security or threat to the diplomatic mission during the demonstration.
The Foreign Minister mentioned that only a small group of protesters gathered briefly to express their anger over the killing of Dipu Chandra Das in Mymensingh district. They also demanded protection for minorities in Bangladesh.
Why India Slams Delhi Protest?
“We have noted misleading propaganda in sections of the Bangladesh media on the incident. The fact is that about 20-25 youths gathered in front of the Bangladesh HC in New Delhi on December 20 and raised slogans in protest against the horrific killing of Dipu Chandra Das in Mymensingh while also calling for the protection of all minorities in Bangladesh,” said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal. He denied reports suggesting an attempt to storm the premises.
Bangladesh receive threats
Hours after India dismissed Bangladesh’s “misleading propaganda,” Dhaka rejected India’s comments, questioning how the protesters allowed to get so close to the secure diplomatic enclave. In a statement, Bangladesh’s foreign affairs adviser, M Touhid Hossain, threatened to reduce Dhaka’s diplomatic presence in India if the situation worsens.
“Regarding the Indian press note, we completely reject it. The issue presented as if it were very simple, but in reality, it is not,” the state-run news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) quoted Hossain saying at a media briefing on Sunday. Dipu Chandra Das killed during a recent wave of unrest in Bangladesh following the death of prominent youth leader Sharif Osman Hadi. This unrest included attacks and vandalism, such as stone-throwing at the Assistant Indian High Commissioner’s residence in Chattogram on December 18.
