India Targets ₹3 Lakh Cr Defence Production & ₹50,000 Cr Exports by 2029: Rajnath Singh

India aims to become a global defence manufacturing hub, targeting defence production worth Rs 3 lakh crore and defence exports of Rs 50,000 crore by 2029, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said.

Speaking at the Sardar Sabha in Vadodara, Gujarat, on Tuesday, he shared the government’s plan for creating a self-reliant and strong defence ecosystem.

“Today, thanks to the ‘Make in India’ initiative, we are becoming self-sufficient in defence production while exporting military equipment to friendly countries. Our defence exports have grown nearly 34 times in the past 11 years. We aim to achieve defence production worth Rs 3 lakh crore and defence exports of Rs 50,000 crore by 2029,” he said.

The event took place during the ‘Unity March’ organized by Mera Yuva (MY) Bharat under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

What Rajnath Singh said?

According to a Ministry of Defence press release, Rajnath Singh mentioned that the government is advancing Sardar Patel’s vision for national security, which emphasized the need to modernize the armed forces and encourage domestic weapon production.

Praising the Indian Armed Forces, Rajnath Singh said that the success of Operation Sindoor showcased the courage and professionalism of the soldiers. He noted that the world now recognizes the bravery and strength of India military. “We are a peace-loving nation that never provokes any country, but if provoked, we do not spare those who try to harm us,” he emphasized.
