Land alloted to Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan in Kathua district, state in J-K Assembly. Some legislators questioning on this decision taken by government. Muralitharan’s Cevlon Beverages was among the big industrial houses allotted land in Kathua’s Bhagthali Industrial Estate. Last year, it costs over Rs 21,000 crore on the ground.
206 kanals allotted to Muttiah Muralitharan
As per sources, Cevlon Beverages allotted 206 kanals of land. It is for installation Rs 1,600-crore aluminium cans manufacturing and liquids filling unit in Kathua. The hire deed executed with the branch in June final year.
Without naming Muralitharan, CPI(M) legislator M Y Tarigami, at some point of the Question Hour, pointed out that “a Sri Lankan cricketer has been allotted land in J&K.
Legislations question on government’s decision
How has this allotment been made? Questioning how a non-Indian cricketer allotted land in J-K, Congress MLA G A Mir said, “This is a serious problem and desires to be seemed into.’’ Responding to the legislators’ concerns, Agriculture Minister Javed Ahmad Dar stated that the authorities has no facts that a former Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan, was provided land “free of cost” in the UT. It is to set up an business unit and that he might look into it.
