Madhya Pradesh Government Denies Anti-Hindu Claims in OBC Reservation Affidavit

Madhya Pradesh Government Denies Anti-Hindu Claims in OBC Reservation Affidavit

On 1st October, the Madhya Pradesh Governmentissued a fact-check shortly after screenshots went viral. These screenshots accused the state and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of being anti-Hindu. The images, which supposedly came from an affidavit submitted to the Supreme Court in the ongoing OBC reservation case, contained controversial statements targeting Hindu civilization.

Why Madhya Pradesh Govt denies Anti-Hindu Claims

The supposed affidavit excerpts blamed Hindu texts like the Ramayana and the Manusmriti for the “backwardness” of nearly 80% of Hindus. The viral screenshots on Twitter also included several other bizarre claims. For example, one screenshot portrayed the killing of Rishi Shambhuk in the Ramayana as an example of caste oppression.

In reality, caste had no connection to the killing of Shambuk by Shri Ram. It occurred not because of his caste but due to his intentions toward Goddess Parvati.

Government keep Mahajan reports

The Mahajan report, like many other commission reports, has long been a part of Madhya Pradesh government records. Since the issue of OBC reservation has faced judicial review for decades, these records were previously presented to the High Court and became part of the case file submitted to the Supreme Court.

The BJP government also pointed out that the Mahajan Commission recommended 35% reservation for OBCs. However, the current state government has been advocating for a 27% reservation.
